A Dawn of Improved water system in Akim Kotokuom Community

Akim Kotokuom Community (near Akim Oda) in the Eastern Region as one of the beneficiary to the project “Provision of potable Water & proper sanitation in four (4) rural Communities in Ghana ", has received its portion. This is the first phase of this project as the mechanization of boreholes and the

Setting up of water distribution systems through public standpipes have been achieved successfully.

This project is being executed with support from FOS Belgium, The Flemish Government, The City of Antwerp, TMVW-Waterlink, a water company in Belgium and Ghana Council (the umbrella organization of the Ghanaian Community members in Belgium).

The overall objective is to promote sustainable potable water accessibility and Livelihood improvement of the people of these 4 communities.

 

The project is based on the concept of sustainable human development through water provision for promoting health status, Reduction of water borne diseases and improvement of livelihoods among the Populates.

The chief, elders and members, and the local Assembly of Akim Kotokuom community have contributed enormously towards the success of this project. They have also expressed their gratitude and pleasure to the stakeholders who made this possible especially the funding partners.

The rest of the beneficiaries are Tanoso Odumasi (Ashanti region), Wassa Sah (Western Region), and Jema Nante (Brong Ahafo region). The second phase of this project also consist of the mechanization of boreholes and the Setting up of water distribution systems through public standpipes in Tanoso Odumasi as attained in Akim Kotokuom.
